On August 17, 2021, 17-year-old Acorian Marquette King was fatally shot at the Stop N Go convenience store on Dartmouth Avenue in Bessemer, Alabama. King, a student at Bessemer City High School, was an innocent bystander when a physical altercation between two men escalated into gunfire. During the confrontation, one of the men involved retrieved a firearm and began shooting, inadvertently striking King, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
