On May 4, 2020, 41-year-old Torie Demarcus Bouyer was fatally shot near 6th Avenue North in Bessemer, Alabama, behind the 4th Avenue Supermarket. Responding to reports of gunfire, Bessemer police officers arrived at the scene to find Bouyer suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
