On September 7, 2015, in Bessemer, Alabama, 48-year-old Bernard Gregory Strother was fatally shot during an apparent robbery. The incident occurred outside a metal building on the 600 block of Westlake Drive, where Strother and another man, 47-year-old Richard Harry Evans, were attacked. Both men were transported to UAB Hospital; Evans succumbed to his injuries on September 8, 2015.
