On May 5, 2022, in Bessemer, Alabama, 57-year-old Raymond Earl Hamilton was fatally shot by his landlord, 80-year-old Paul Edwin Vance. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Alliance Road, where deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Hamilton deceased from a gunshot wound.
