On April 8, 2022, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to reports of a person armed with a gun in the 1400 block of 33rd Street Ensley. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Veronica Joseph lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
