In the fall of 2008, the life of George Rufus Boatman, a 44-year-old Caucasian male from Leeds, Alabama, was tragically cut short. On October 28, 2008, Boatman was in Birmingham, where he became the victim of a fatal shooting. His body was discovered the following day in the parking lot of the Town Suites located on Huffman Road.
Investigators at the scene determined that the incident was likely the result of a robbery. Boatman had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
