On December 21, 2023, 3-year-old Kacey Jackson was fatally shot in his Birmingham, Alabama, home. At approximately 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 7500 block of 2nd Avenue North, where they found Kacey unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggested that the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted, as Kacey had accessed an unsecured firearm within the home.
