Keeran Angol was a friend who showed up to help. The 29-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, had crossed state lines into Elkton, Maryland, to do a favor for a friend’s mother. On Danford Drive, in the Delancy Village Townhouses community, he was performing construction-type work on her home, helping her get ready for an upcoming inspection. It was a simple act of kindness, but one that would place him at the center of a fatal conflict in the pre-dawn hours of October 16, 2026.
The
night before his death, trouble had already started. According to investigators with the Elkton Police Department, a dispute arose between Keeran and the homeowner’s 24-year-old son related to the construction project. The disagreement was serious enough that police were called to the residence. Officers responded to the call, mediated the situation, and eventually left the scene. For about two hours, a tense quiet settled over the neighborhood.
That quiet was shattered just before 5:30 a.m. when residents heard the sound of gunshots. Police were dispatched back to the same area, this time under much more dire circumstances. As officers began canvassing the neighborhood in the early morning darkness, they made a devastating discovery. In an open field behind the 100 block of Danford Drive, about 50 feet from the back of the townhomes, they found Keeran Angol. He had been shot numerous times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crime scene told a story of brutal violence. Investigators recovered a total of 17 shell casings, painting a grim picture of the final moments of Keeran’s life. Elkton Police Lt. Ronald Odom, a detective and agency spokesperson, described the killing in stark terms. “We recovered a total of 17 casings from the scene, so it was a brutal. I’ll use the word ‘execution’,” Odom stated. “It never should have happened. It was just a complete gross disregard for, you know, human life just in general.”
The Elkton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division launched an immediate homicide investigation. Detectives learned that the shooter, or shooters, had fled the scene on foot, running toward the rear of Danford Drive and into the adjacent Buckhill Farms and Thomson Estates neighborhoods. Police issued a public appeal, asking residents on and near Danford Drive and in the surrounding communities to check their home security cameras, Ring doorbells, and any other video sources for footage recorded between 4:45 a.m. and 6 a.m. on the morning of the shooting.
Within a week, the investigation led to a significant breakthrough. Police identified a suspect: the 24-year-old man with whom Keeran had argued just hours before he was killed. The man was located in Wilmington, Delaware, where he was already in custody on unrelated matters. Authorities also confirmed he was wanted on a violation of probation warrant within the state of Maryland, which would facilitate his return.
As of late October 2026, the suspect’s name had not been publicly released by officials. Authorities in Maryland were awaiting his extradition from Delaware so he could formally face homicide charges for the death of Keeran Angol. The investigation remains active, and police are still seeking information from the public.
