On the Wednesday after the incident, Lockhart turned himself in to the authorities and was taken into custody without incident. He has since been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Due to the severity of the charges, Lockhart will be prosecuted as an adult under South Carolina law.
