In the quiet town of Pageland, South Carolina, a dispute that began in the parking lot of a McDonald's escalated into a tragedy, claiming the life of 23-year-old Daniel Omarion Carter on Monday, April 13, 2026. The events leading to his death were set in motion two days prior, on a Saturday afternoon, with a physical altercation that was captured on video and quickly spread across social media, inflaming tensions between two groups.
The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office reported that
the online circulation of the fight footage, coupled with ensuing comments, significantly intensified the conflict. By Monday morning, law enforcement had begun to make arrests related to the weekend brawl. It was on this same morning, around 7:45 a.m., that Daniel Carter was found on Nicholson Lane, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he did not survive his injuries. The moments leading up to the fatal shooting were reportedly recorded on a neighbor's surveillance camera. The footage is said to show Carter knocking on the door of a residence. After he turned and walked away, the door opened, and a man, identified by authorities as Reggie Martavious Ivey, 27, allegedly shot Carter several times.
A swift investigation was launched, and with the aid of flock surveillance cameras that identified Ivey's vehicle, law enforcement tracked him to the Icemorlee Apartment complex in Monroe, North Carolina. By noon on the day of the shooting, Reggie Ivey was arrested by Monroe police. He is facing a murder charge and is being held in the Union County jail without bond, awaiting extradition to Chesterfield County to face legal proceedings.
The investigation also led to the arrest of several other individuals in connection with the initial fight at McDonald's. Among those taken into custody were Zytavion Fair, Wanda Miles, Kevon Joines, Gabriel Walker, and Shania Little. Aniyah Blake, of Monroe, also self-surrendered to the authorities. The sheriff's office has stated that they are still seeking another individual, Shakarah Saunders, in relation to the fight.
