In the late afternoon of August 11, 2018, tragedy struck in the small town of Pageland, South Carolina, forever altering the lives of one family. Debias Tyrese Pate, an 18-year-old Black male, found himself in the midst of a heated confrontation on North Elm Street. As the situation escalated and individuals began to flee the scene, the air was pierced by the sound of gunfire. In the chaos that ensued, a bullet found its mark, and Pate fell, fatally wounded.
