On a tragic Friday evening in Pageland, South Carolina, the life of 48-year-old James Daniel Myers Jr. was cut short. On August 2, 2019, Chesterfield County deputies responded to a call shortly after 5 p.m. from a residence on Highway 9. There, they discovered that Myers had been fatally shot in what was described as a domestic-related incident.
Authorities quickly took a woman into custody at the scene. The woman was identified as Myers' girlfriend.
The investigation into the shooting was ongoing, and at the time, her name was not immediately released to the public.
Following the initial investigation, Kristin Elizabeth Johnson was arrested and charged with the murder of James Daniel Myers Jr. She was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The case then moved to the Circuit Court for Chesterfield County.
In February 2022, Johnson's case went to trial. During the proceedings, the jury heard testimony and was presented with evidence regarding the events that transpired on the night of Myers' death. After deliberation, the jury found Kristin Elizabeth Johnson guilty of voluntary manslaughter. She was subsequently sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in the death of James Daniel Myers Jr.
