In the early morning hours of August 16, 2025, a gathering of friends at an apartment in Cheyenne, Wyoming, took a tragic turn, ending the life of 23-year-old Hispanic male, Senior Airman Joshua Aragon. A security forces specialist assigned to the 790th Missile Security Forces Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Aragon was off-duty at the Sundance Apartments when the fatal incident occurred. He had joined the Air Force on April 19, 2022, and was stationed at F.E.
Warren since October of that year.
According to police reports, several friends, including Aragon, had been drinking at the apartment on Walterscheid Boulevard. At approximately 3:30 a.m., Airman 1st Class Jadan Orr, a 20-year-old also assigned to the 90th Missile Security Forces Squadron, went into a bedroom with two other individuals. Inside the room, Orr picked up an AK-47 style rifle. As he was handling the weapon, he charged it and fired a single round through the bedroom wall.
The bullet traveled into the living room, striking Aragon in the torso as he was sitting on the couch. After the shot was fired, others in the apartment rushed to the living room to find Aragon wounded and bleeding. They attempted to carry him outside to a vehicle to transport him to the hospital while another person called 911. When Cheyenne police officers arrived, they found individuals trying to render aid to Aragon. Despite their efforts and the arrival of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the Cheyenne Police Department arrested Jadan Orr. The Laramie County District Attorney's Office has since charged him with involuntary manslaughter. An investigation into the shooting was launched by local law enforcement, with the full cooperation of the 90th Missile Wing at F.E. Warren Air Force Base.
