On a Saturday afternoon, tragedy struck an Indianapolis barbershop, leaving a family and community in mourning. Inside Buck's Barber Shop on West 10th Street, 44-year-old Willie Scott was shot shortly after 4 p.m. on February 1, 2025. The male victim was found by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers who had been called to the Haughville business on a report of a person shot.
Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and quickly transported Scott to a nearby
hospital. He was listed in critical condition upon arrival, but tragically, he later died from his injuries. The shooting happened in the 2500 block of West 10th Street, near King Avenue.
Family members revealed that an unknown assailant entered the barbershop from a rear entrance, shot Scott, and then fled the scene. While his family acknowledged his past struggles with the law, they also shared that he had been actively trying to make a positive impact in his community. They said he had been visiting prisons to share his life story and speaking with young people in an effort to steer them away from a life of crime.
In the days following the shooting, no arrests had been made. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stated that they did not have a suspect in custody and have asked for the public's help in the ongoing investigation.
