Gerard Cage, an 18-year-old aspiring musician from Lancaster, TX, tragically lost his life on February 9, 2018. Known affectionately as "Baby Gee" by his family and friends, Gerard was a native of Avondale, LA, and had moved to Lancaster, TX. He was the loving son of Monica Addison and Iran Gerard Cage, Sr., and had several siblings. Gerard was remembered for his charisma, energy, and love for music and dancing.
Gerard's death was the result of a violent incident that occurred after he
attempted to purchase a cell phone through the "5miles" resale app. According to witnesses, Gerard was shot multiple times by the male driver of a white Dodge pickup, while a female passenger was present in the vehicle. The suspects, Timothy Gordon Johnson, 28, and Nichelle Scott-Dennis, 29, both of Lancaster, were identified by the police. Johnson faced a first-degree murder charge, while Scott-Dennis was charged with failure to report a felony. Despite executing a search warrant at their residence, both suspects remained at large.
The tragic incident took place in the 1400 block of Rockbrook Street, just over a mile from where Gerard lived. His aunt, Laquivus Bolts, described him as someone who loved being around people and sharing his passion for music and dancing on social media. The "5miles" app expressed condolences and stated that they were cooperating with the Lancaster Police Department to assist in the investigation.
Gerard Cage's untimely death left a void in the lives of his family, friends, and the community. His memory lives on through the love and support of those who knew him and the impact he made during his short life.
