In the early morning hours of February 28, 2016, a domestic dispute in Nashville, Tennessee, escalated into a tragedy that claimed the life of 27-year-old Jacquard Evans. The conflict began when Evans went to a residence on Capitol Point to retrieve his belongings from his girlfriend. A verbal and physical altercation ensued between the couple.
During the argument, Jonathan Hudspeth, the 24-year-old brother of Evans' girlfriend, was present and armed with an assault rifle.
Witnessing Evans trip his sister, Hudspeth fired a single shot, striking Evans in the chest. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Evans was fatally wounded by the gunshot.
Following the shooting, law enforcement was called to the scene. Hudspeth was subsequently arrested and charged with criminal homicide. During an interview with police detectives, he admitted to shooting Evans. He was held on a $750,000 bond.
Jacquard Evans was survived by his two children, Sadie and Jesaiah Hudspeth-Evans, his father, and numerous siblings, aunts, and uncles. His funeral services were held on March 5, 2016, at the Galilee MB Church in Nashville.
