On July 26, 2018, Daniel Edward Hambrick, a 25-year-old African-American man, was shot and killed by Officer Andrew Delke of the Nashville, Tennessee police department. The incident occurred when Hambrick was running away from Delke after allegedly pointing a gun at the officer. Delke was searching for a white Chevrolet Impala and mistakenly identified Hambrick as a suspect. During the pursuit, Delke fired four shots, three of which struck Hambrick in the back of the head, back, and left torso.
