In the late hours of a Friday evening in Nashville, Tennessee, a young man's life was abruptly cut short by a sudden act of violence. Miles Benjamin Slay, a 24-year-old male, was on foot at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and 40th Avenue North on June 24, 2022, when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m.
Multiple gunshots were fired from the passenger side of a sport utility vehicle, striking Slay.
Immediately following the gunfire, the SUV sped away from the scene, turning onto 39th Avenue North and disappearing into the night. A witness at the scene rushed to Slay's side to render aid until emergency medical services arrived. He was then transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
