In the summer of 2020, a life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Andre L. McDonald, a 26-year-old male, was fatally shot on June 22, 2020. The incident that led to his untimely death unfolded near the intersection of 12th Avenue North and Jefferson Street.
Investigations into the shooting painted a grim picture of a dispute gone horribly wrong. Authorities determined that McDonald was shot during what was described as an illegal drug transaction.
Reports indicate that an argument erupted between McDonald and another individual, escalating to the point of deadly violence.
Coordinated efforts by law enforcement led to a significant breakthrough in the case. On September 2, 2020, North Precinct detectives, with the assistance of the Juvenile Crime Task Force, located and apprehended a suspect. Zamar Redmond, 27 years old at the time, was taken into custody at a residence in Madison.
Redmond was subsequently charged with criminal homicide in connection with the fatal shooting of Andre L. McDonald. In addition to the homicide charge, he also faced a charge of attempting to rob another man who was with McDonald at the time of the incident. It was noted that Redmond had a history of prior convictions, including for aggravated robbery, robbery, aggravated burglary, and cocaine possession.
