DaVontae Ziegler, a 15-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on March 6, 2015, in North Nashville, Tennessee. DaVontae was shot outside his home on Gwynwood Drive while spending time with friends on a snow day. The incident occurred when an 11-year-old boy, who was playing with a gun he found, accidentally fired the weapon, hitting DaVontae. Despite running to a neighbor's house for help, DaVontae succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
