In the summer of 2022, a life was tragically cut short in Nashville, Tennessee. Wilmer Antonio Quiroz, a 55-year-old Hispanic man, was found deceased on June 29th in the parking lot of the Crestview Apartments on Thompson Place. An Uber driver discovered him, and it was determined that he had suffered a single gunshot wound.
The investigation into the death of Wilmer Antonio Quiroz, led by Detective Madison Meiss of the Metro Nashville Police Department, quickly began to unravel the
events that led to the fatal shooting. It is believed that Quiroz had a brief interaction with a teenager just moments before he was killed. This encounter would prove to be a pivotal point in the case as investigators worked to identify those responsible for his death.
The efforts of the Homicide Unit and Specialized Investigations detectives led to a significant breakthrough in the case. On the evening of July 7, 2022, authorities arrested 16-year-old David Guerra-Guzman at a nearby apartment complex. He was taken into custody and charged with the murder of Wilmer Antonio Quiroz. During the arrest, a gun was also recovered. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
In connection with the case, a second 16-year-old was also taken into custody and charged with tampering with evidence. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Wilmer Antonio Quiroz's death continues as the legal process for the two teenagers unfolds.
