On July 24, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 21-year-old Yoel Sarmiento López was fatally shot in Nashville, Tennessee. The incident occurred while López, his cousin, and 18-year-old Josué Emanuel Cruz were parked in a Nissan Altima near the intersection of Sterling Boone Drive and Jay Street, listening to music.
