In the early hours of April 25, 2020, Isaac Davis, a 48-year-old man, was fatally shot in Nashville, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 1:25 a.m. in the 1500 block of Delta Avenue as Davis was dropping off a female companion at her residence. Gunfire suddenly erupted, and Davis was struck in the head. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The female friend who was with him at the time of the shooting sustained a non-life-threatening wound to her leg.
For nearly three years, the case remained under investigation by North Precinct detectives. A significant breakthrough came in February 2023 when a continuing investigation by the Cold Case Unit and the Violent Crimes Division led to the indictment of two men for the murder of Isaac Davis. The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Webb, 29, and Dewayne Garner, 30. Investigators believe that the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity and that Davis was not the intended target.
Both Webb and Garner have prior felony convictions. Webb is a convicted armed robber in Davidson County, and Garner has a money laundering conviction in Williamson County. Following the indictment, both men were charged with first-degree murder and gun possession by a convicted felon in connection with the death of Isaac Davis.
