Steven Ross Pinkelton, a 30-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was tragically shot and killed on July 26, 1978, in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time of his death, Pinkelton was off duty but still in uniform, waiting in line at a Pizza Hut on West End Avenue. An armed robber entered the restaurant, grabbed Pinkelton from behind, and shot him in the back of the head.
The suspect, Mack Cole, was apprehended and later convicted of first-degree murder. The case was taken to the Grand Jury
