In the late hours of an April night in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of Cleveland Curtis Shaw Jr., a 29-year-old Black man, was cut short by gunfire. On April 7, 2021, just before midnight, Shaw was driving a three-wheeled Polaris Slingshot motorcycle across the Clarksville Pike bridge over the Cumberland River. An 18-year-old passenger was with him at the time of the incident. Their ride was violently interrupted when shots were fired from another vehicle, striking both Shaw and his passenger.
