In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 17, 2015, the life of Roger Darren Fryer, a 49-year-old White/Caucasian male, came to a violent and mysterious end in Nashville, Tennessee. Remembered by friends and family as a selfless and outgoing man who, despite being a bit rowdy and hot-headed, would give what he had to help someone in need, his final moments are a puzzle that remains unsolved.
Shortly before 3:00 a.m., Fryer was dropped off near the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Road in Antioch. He was then seen getting into and leaving in a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Tragically, this would be the last time he was seen alive. At approximately 3:30 a.m., his body was discovered on the side of the road near 3422 Mt. View Circle. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe that the shooting did not occur where his body was found, but rather that he was shot inside the Ford F-150 he was seen entering just a short time before his discovery. The truck, which was later found to have been stolen, was recovered a few weeks after the homicide, but its discovery did not immediately lead to a break in the case.
Years have passed since Roger Fryer's death, and his murder is now considered a cold case by the Nashville Police Department. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the crime. The case remains open, with authorities still seeking any information that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and lead to the person or persons responsible for his death. His family and friends were left to mourn a man who loved riding motorcycles and watching Jeff Gordon race, his life cut short in a brutal act of violence that continues to await justice.
