In the late hours of a summer evening in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 35-year-old Michael T. Larson was tragically cut short. On July 12, 2015, Larson, a male resident of Hermitage, was fatally shot in what remains an unsolved crime that continues to haunt his family.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the driveway of his condominium on Rockwood Drive. Larson was standing outside when he was struck in the back by gunfire.
His mother, who lived with him, was mere feet away and witnessed the horrific event. In his final moments, Larson’s thoughts were for her safety, warning her to move so she wouldn't also be shot.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing two slender men, believed to be in their early twenties, fleeing the area immediately after the shooting. A silver Pontiac Sunfire was also seen speeding away from the location. Descriptions of the two individuals were later provided to the police. One suspect was described as tall and thin with shoulder-length dreadlocks, while the other was characterized as being short and thin.
Earlier on the day of the murder, Larson had reportedly been involved in an argument with a group of men in the same driveway where he was later killed. Investigators believe that he was specifically targeted. Despite these leads and descriptions of the suspects, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Michael T. Larson. The case grew cold over the years, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. As of recent reports, the perpetrators remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing within the Metro Police Department's Cold Case Unit.
