On a December evening in Nashville, Tennessee, 32-year-old Jesiah Lyke's life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence that remains unsolved. His death occurred on December 7, 2015, though the fatal encounter took place on the evening of Friday, December 11, 2015. Jesiah and his identical twin brother, Jonathan, were out for a walk near their Bluewater Drive home when the harrowing events unfolded.
As the brothers walked, a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Versa or
Sentra, drove past them before making an abrupt U-turn and stopping just ahead. Two of the three men inside the vehicle exited, brandishing guns as they approached Jesiah and Jonathan. The armed men ordered the brothers to get on the ground. While Jonathan complied, turning out his pockets before lying down, Jesiah attempted to flee. It was in this moment that one of the assailants opened fire, fatally wounding him just a short distance from his own home. The gunmen then quickly got back into their car and sped away from the scene.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators found evidence suggesting the men who attacked the Lyke brothers may have been involved in an armed robbery that occurred later that same evening. Surveillance footage from the subsequent robbery was released in the hopes that someone from the public could identify the individuals. Despite these leads, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Jesiah Lyke. His case has since gone cold, leaving his family without answers and his killers still at large. The Nashville Police Department continues to seek information from the public that might bring a resolution to this tragic case.
