In the summer of 2008, a visit to friends in Nashville, Tennessee, turned tragic for Ricky Vincent Hanlon. A 50-year-old Caucasian male from the nearby city of Smyrna, he was at a residence located at 3219 Torbett Avenue on the evening of Thursday, July 31st. While spending time at the house, Hanlon was fatally shot multiple times.
The discovery of what had transpired was made by a friend who had been present earlier.
This individual had left the residence to give another man a ride home. Upon returning to the Torbett Avenue house, the friend found Hanlon deceased. The motive behind the shooting and the identity of the person or persons responsible have remained elusive.
Originally from Chicago, Ricky Hanlon was the owner of a business called Rick Hanlon Concrete. In the years following his death, his case has become one of Nashville's cold cases. Law enforcement has encouraged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, to come forward to help bring closure to his family and friends. Despite these appeals, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into his murder remains open and unresolved.
