Dagoberto Utrera-Gonzalez, a 47-year-old White male, was found critically wounded on the morning of February 5, 2019. A passerby discovered him lying on the ground in the 800 block of 17th Avenue North in Nashville, Tennessee. He had sustained a significant gunshot wound to his head.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene, and Utrera-Gonzalez was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, his injuries proved to be too severe. He ultimately succumbed to the gunshot wound later that day, tragically cutting his life short.
The investigation into his death was swiftly launched by the Metro Nashville Police Department. Detectives began canvassing the area for potential witnesses and any available surveillance footage that might shed light on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. In the days that followed, the police publicly identified two individuals, Deshaun Humphrey and Dandre Martin, as persons of interest in the case. However, as the investigation progressed, no arrests were made, and the case has since gone cold. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the individuals responsible for the death of Dagoberto Utrera-Gonzalez have yet to be brought to justice.
