On August 4, 2023, at approximately 2:50 a.m., 16-year-old Diego Morente-Chiroy was found fatally shot in the driver's seat of an SUV in the parking lot of Emerson Apartments on Harding Place in South Nashville. The vehicle belonged to a relative who was unaware that Diego had taken it. Diego, originally from Guatemala, resided in the Inglewood area of Nashville. The circumstances leading to his presence at the apartment complex remain unclear.
