In the early hours of August 15, 2020, the life of 55-year-old Darrell Lamont Walker was tragically cut short in a parking lot behind a market on West Trinity Lane in Nashville, Tennessee. Just after midnight, at approximately 12:21 a.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting and discovered Walker suffering from gunshot wounds. He was urgently transported to Skyline Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Witnesses at the scene reported hearing the
sound of gunshots and seeing an individual fleeing the area, heading toward West Trinity Lane. At the time of his death, Walker was known to be staying at a motel on Brick Church Pike. The investigation into the fatal shooting was handled by North Precinct detectives of the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The investigation led authorities to identify a suspect in the case. In September 2021, Alex Carmichael Williams, a 23-year-old truck driver from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, surrendered to Nashville police. He was subsequently indicted on a charge of first-degree murder for the death of Darrell Lamont Walker. Notably, at the time of his arrest in Nashville, Williams was already out on bond for a separate murder charge in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, from June 2020. Following his surrender, Williams was held without bond pending his arraignment in Criminal Court.
