In the summer of 2022, the life of Aaron Walker, a 51-year-old African American man, was brought to an abrupt and violent end in Nashville, Tennessee. On July 27th, while at his job at Kenny Pipe and Supply on Cowan Street, a dispute with a coworker escalated, resulting in a fatal shooting. The incident cut short the life of a man known for his friendly and genuine nature.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 27, 1970, Aaron Walker was a man who had built a life in Nashville, a city he
had called home since 2003. He was a husband and a father, having married in 2012 and raising two children with his wife, while also being a father to other children. A former high school athlete who earned a football scholarship, he channeled his passion for the sport into coaching a little league football team in Antioch, giving back to his community.
Following the tragic events at the workplace, Metro Nashville Police quickly identified a suspect. Ivan Maurice Coffman, 53, a coworker of Walker's, was taken into custody. During an interview with homicide detectives, Coffman admitted to having a disagreement with Walker prior to the shooting. Based on his admission and other evidence gathered during the investigation, Ivan Maurice Coffman was arrested and charged with criminal homicide for the death of Aaron Walker.
