On a late Thursday evening in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of Antoine Dashawn Hayes, a 26-year-old African American man, was tragically cut short. On July 1, 2021, gunshots echoed through the Fallbrook Apartments on Dellway Villa Road in East Nashville. Responding to a call just before 9:30 p.m., Metro Nashville Police officers discovered Hayes critically wounded in an apartment breezeway, suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical assistance was rendered
at the scene by the responding officers before he was rushed to TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Despite the efforts to save him, Antoine Hayes was pronounced dead at the hospital.
