On September 6, 2014, 30-year-old Ben "Benny" Cook, a Black male from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the 8000 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, a known area for criminal activity. Cook was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, and despite efforts to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
