On April 3, 2023, at approximately 10:55 a.m., 42-year-old Darren Whitfield was fatally shot in South Philadelphia following a road rage incident. The confrontation occurred on the 2000 block of Mercy Street after a minor traffic collision between Whitfield's vehicle and that of 22-year-old Derek Escribano.
