In the afternoon hours of March 19, 2018, a silver Mazda 6 sat parked on the 2900 block of Wishart Street in North Philadelphia. Inside the vehicle, a violent scene had unfolded, leaving two men with fatal injuries. One of the men was Bryant McCoy, a 39-year-old Black male who resided on the 4600 block of Mulberry Street. The other victim was 25-year-old Charles Williams.
Both men had been shot multiple times in what authorities believe may have been a drive-by shooting carried out by someone in an SUV.
Philadelphia Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 4:09 p.m. and discovered McCoy and Williams inside the car. McCoy had sustained gunshot wounds to his chest and back. Williams had been shot in the head, chest, and back. Emergency services rushed both men to Temple University Hospital, but their injuries proved too severe, and they were pronounced dead.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown to the public. In the years that have passed since the incident, no arrests have been made, and the Philadelphia Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects.
