In the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh, a burst of gunfire on the evening of January 27, 2021, tragically cut short the life of 19-year-old Kwaeonte Carpenter. The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Flowers Avenue, shattering the winter night's quiet.
Following the gunshots, Carpenter, a female, was rushed into a private vehicle along with a male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his hand. In a desperate bid for help, the vehicle was stopped by police officers on Blair Street.
Discovering the critically wounded teenager inside, officers immediately began administering CPR.
Kwaeonte Carpenter was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, but her injuries were too severe. She was pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving a community to mourn her sudden and violent death.
