On December 1, 2022, 21-year-old Temani Lewis was fatally shot outside a grocery store in Pittsburgh's Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar neighborhood. She was sitting in her Jeep Cherokee when three individuals approached her vehicle and began shooting. Lewis was critically injured in the attack and succumbed to her injuries five days later at the hospital. Her 4-year-old daughter, Kaari Thompson, was also shot and died immediately at the scene.
