On August 9, 2007, Jayla Brown, a 19-year-old woman from Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, was tragically killed in a shooting. Jayla and her date, 22-year-old James Johnson, were sitting in a car on the 5200 block of Butler Street at around 1 a.m. when at least two gunmen approached the vehicle and opened fire. The attackers fired over 20 rounds into the car before fleeing the scene.
