Melissa Manhart, a 42-year-old woman, was found shot to death on August 11, 2017, in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood. She had just moved into her new home on Paulson Avenue two days before the incident. Manhart was discovered on the back porch of the house by a passerby who immediately called 911. The medical examiner confirmed that she had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide.
