In the late summer of 2015, the life of 39-year-old Nova Jill Saffles was brought to a tragic and abrupt end in her Springfield, Georgia, home. On the evening of Saturday, September 26, 2015, law enforcement was called to a residence on North Maple Street to investigate a domestic dispute. Upon their arrival, they discovered Ms. Saffles, a female, deceased inside her home from a fatal gunshot wound. The nature of the incident prompted the Springfield Police Department to request the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to lead the inquiry into her death.
The investigation quickly focused on a primary suspect: Nova Saffles' 52-year-old boyfriend, Luis Edgardo Vendrell, who was also identified in some reports as Louis Vendrell Larges.
