On July 15, 2023, Shirley Leavitt, aged 66, was one of the victims of a mass shooting in the Dogwood Lakes neighborhood of Hampton, Georgia.
Shirley Leavitt was killed along with her husband, Scott Leavitt, 67, and two other neighbors, Steve Blizzard, 65, and Ronald Jeffers, 66. The shooting occurred within a span of 10 minutes and was allegedly carried out by Andre Longmore, a 41-year-old former Army sergeant who lived in the same neighborhood.
