In a tragic turn of events on a Wednesday night in September 2020, 19-year-old Shyanne Harvey, a young mother from Hampton, Georgia, lost her life in a violent shooting. The incident unfolded inside her family's home on Glynn Court in Clayton County. Also wounded in the attack were her mother, Stacy Ahmed, and her four-year-old son, Jaxson.
The man authorities identified as the perpetrator was Karl Anthony Jordan, who was described as Harvey's ex-boyfriend.
According to family members, Harvey had recently ended her relationship with Jordan and had expressed concerns that he was stalking her. On the night of the shooting, Jordan entered the family's home and opened fire, fatally wounding Harvey. As Ahmed attempted to flee with her grandson, Jordan shot both of them as well.
In the hours following the shooting at the Harvey residence, the violence continued. Early the next morning, Jordan was allegedly involved in another shooting at a Waffle House in McDonough, where he is said to have shot a woman before stealing her car. A manhunt for Jordan ensued, and he was captured by law enforcement shortly thereafter.
Following his arrest, Karl Anthony Jordan was held in the Clayton County Jail without bond, facing a number of charges, including malice murder for the death of Shyanne Harvey. While her son Jaxson was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and released from the hospital, Harvey's mother required hospitalization for her injuries. The community and first responders rallied around the grieving family, offering support in the aftermath of the devastating loss.
