In a tragic sequence of events that unfolded in Hampton, Georgia, a woman by the name of Ali Grace lost her life. On a Monday morning in September 2019, Grace arrived at a home on Steele Drive, where she was scheduled to begin a job. It was there that she was fatally shot. The discovery of her body set in motion a chain of events that would soon reveal a double homicide.
Concerned relatives, unable to reach another family member, went to a home on Carl Parker Road, about three miles from
where Grace's body was found. There, they discovered the second victim, Anne Hall, who had also been killed. The investigation quickly focused on Anne Hall's estranged husband, 50-year-old Donnie Wayne Hall, as a person of interest in both deaths.
Family members indicated that Donnie Hall had been threatening his wife. These threats were reportedly fueled by his belief that she was involved in an inappropriate relationship with Grace, an allegation that those close to Anne Hall denied, stating that Grace was simply an employee. Just days before the killings, Anne Hall had reportedly obtained a restraining order against her husband.
Following the discovery of the two victims, law enforcement issued an alert for Donnie Hall. A tip led police to his vehicle, and a high-speed chase ensued. During the pursuit, Hall reportedly fired at officers. The chase came to a violent end when officers attempted to stop his vehicle, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Shortly after, Donnie Hall was found deceased in his vehicle. Authorities believe he may have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers were injured in the confrontation. On the morning of the murders, a message was posted on Donnie Hall's public Facebook page that read, “Sorry for the disappointment friends. Just couldn't take it. See ya on the flip side.”
