In the small town of Morganton, Georgia, a tragic event unfolded on March 4, 2019, shattering the community's sense of peace. On that day, 31-year-old Amber Marie Jackson and her 3-year-old son, Ethan, were found deceased on the front steps of their apartment on Underwood Road. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Amber was a mother and an employee at Robinson Stave.
The prime suspect in the double homicide was identified as Amber's 35-year-old boyfriend, Joshua Lee Fults.
He was discovered on the porch of the residence with what authorities believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fults was arrested at the scene and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. An arrest warrant was issued for Fults, charging him with the murder of Amber Jackson, with additional charges expected to follow.

Reports indicated that on June 30, 2018, Amber had contacted 911, expressing fear for her safety and the safety of her young son. She reported to the dispatcher that Fults had a violent past and had been violent with her the previous day.

On March 12, 2019, roughly a week after the shooting, authorities confirmed that Fults had succumbed to his injuries and died.
