On a summer afternoon in Bladensburg, Maryland, events unfolded that would end the life of 26-year-old Erik Anthony Kelly. On August 1, 2016, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers from the Bladensburg Police Department were dispatched to the 4600 block of Red Hawk Terrace following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Erik Kelly in a parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
