On a late Sunday afternoon, just a day before New Year's Eve in 2018, the life of 28-year-old Jon Edward Price Jr. of Glen Burnie, Maryland, was tragically cut short. The young man was in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road in Severn when he was shot. The incident occurred around 3:55 p.m. on December 30th. Price was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he fought for his life.
However, just ten minutes before the stroke of midnight and the dawn of a new year, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the shooting. An autopsy later confirmed that Jon Edward Price Jr. died from gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. Detectives began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting. From the outset, investigators believed that the shooting was not a random act of violence and that Price had been specifically targeted.
Despite the belief that he was targeted, the investigation into the murder of Jon Edward Price Jr. has yet to yield any arrests. A year after his death, the case remained unsolved, prompting the police to reissue a plea to the public for any information that might lead to the identification of the shooter or shooters. A reward of up to $10,000 was offered for any information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for his death. The Anne Arundel County Homicide Unit continues to urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward as they seek to bring justice to Jon Edward Price Jr. and his grieving family.
