On a Thanksgiving Day that should have been filled with community and celebration, tragedy struck in Severn, Maryland, irrevocably altering the lives of many. On November 26, 2020, Louis Guy Newman III, a 20-year-old male, was fatally shot following a community football game. The festive atmosphere of the holiday was shattered by an altercation that escalated into gunfire, leaving Newman and two other men wounded. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, Newman succumbed to his injuries.
