On the evening of August 21, 2022, in Severn, Maryland, 20-year-old Naim Rashid Addison, a male resident of Severn, was fatally shot while sitting in the driver's seat of his Honda Civic at the intersection of Pioneer Drive and Arwell Court. Despite immediate life-saving efforts and transportation to a local hospital, he succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
Investigators from the Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit quickly determined that the shooting was a targeted attack, not a random act of violence.
The investigation into Addison's death led to the identification of three suspects. According to charging documents, the incident was arranged as a drug transaction by Vanae Lewis, who was 17 at the time. During the transaction, one suspect approached the driver's side of Addison's vehicle while two others, one of whom was the shooter, approached the passenger side. In March 2023, authorities arrested the now 18-year-old Vanae Lewis of Severn. She faced multiple charges, including first and second-degree murder, assault, and firearm offenses.
Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of two additional suspects in February 2025: 19-year-old Dontravious Johnson of Annapolis and 20-year-old Francis Bella Koroma Jr. of Greenbelt. Both were charged with murder, assault, armed robbery, and conspiracy. Court records indicate that Vanae Lewis eventually pleaded guilty to charges related to her involvement in Naim Rashid Addison's murder. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to seek any additional information related to the case.
